Book Review: Matilda by Roald Dahl
đBook Review: Matilda by Roald Dahl
đ About the book
Matilda is one of those magical books that makes you laugh, curious, and cheer for the real life super girl all at once. Itâs the story of a little girl, Matilda Wormwood, whoâs not only smart but also has a huge heart. Sadly, her parents are the exact oppositeâselfish, rude, and totally uninterested in her. On top of that, her terrifying headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, rules the school like a monster. But Matilda, with her clever mind and surprising powers, decides she wonât just sit quietlyâsheâs going to fight back, in her own mischievous and brilliant way.
đŠâđź Author & Illustrator
-
Author: Roald Dahl â one of the most loved childrenâs authors ever. His stories (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The BFG, James and the Giant Peach) are packed with humor, magic, and just the right touch of mischief.
-
Illustrator: Quentin Blake â his wild, scribbly, cartoon-like illustrations give life to every character. Miss Trunchbull looks scarier, Matilda looks tinier, and the whole book feels funnier because of his drawings.
đ What I Loved the Most
The best part for me was Matildaâs cleverness and confidence. She doesnât let her size, age, or unfair adults stop her. I loved how she used her brains (and her telekinesis powers đ) to outsmart the bullies in her life. Itâs so satisfying to watch someone so small stand up to people so powerful. And Miss Honey and her aunt? It was the most shocking moment when I got to know who is Miss Honey’s evil aunt.
đŻ Age Group
This book is perfect for ages 8 to 13 (but honestly, grown-ups love it too because itâs funny and sharp). Younger kids enjoy the humor, while older readers catch the deeper message about courage and kindness. I was 11 when I read and I loved it. I even suggested it to my sister and after reading that she also got herself in the new precious hobby of reading.
